Time to rest

For the last four Saturdays we have hosted some fantastic people at our lovely dining table here in Essex.
I am now cycling to Leytonstone each Saturday to get our veg from the very brilliant OrganicLea stall after trekking up the Woodford hill to WD Chapman for some rather excellent meat. Thanks to our very own chickens for providing the eggs in the ice cream, chocolate delice and tarts.

Just one more Griddle before the end of the year... booked out for January but there are two places for 1st February and six places for 22nd February. Email us to join in griddleproject@gmail.com

Berskwell cheese & kale salad (thanks to La Fromagerie),
Shot of chestnut soup
Lamb baked in hay, fondant potatoes, garden sauce
 Pork and apple terrine
Pumpkin beignets
Chocolate Delice, satsuma ice-cream, satsuma shortbread

Calm before the storm...

Nah, not talking about the storm a brewing for Monday, talking about our weekend off before we get back to hosting lots of Griddle Nights in November. To be honest, I can't wait really. I miss it. We haven't hosted a night for a while. So we are in Shoeburyness, by the wild winds and stormy Thames Estuary.

Today we had lunch at Osborne's, an amazing outpost of seafood in Leigh-on-Sea. We demolished prawns. roll mops, smoked sprats and dressed crab. Picked up some Cornish Squid - which I peppered. floured and fried as a snack... before we devoured venison steak smothered in shallot and wild mushroom, rum sauce, washed down with just a touch of Marlborogh Pinot Noir. Oooof.

Also on a cheese and Ale mission, so making sure we load our stomachs full of these delights too.

#Shoeburyness fun

2013 is closed for bookings!

Sadly we currently have no availability this year. 7 nights up until Christmas are fully booked... and we've even taken a booking for 11th January 2014.

Wow.

Had an excellent Saturday night hosting a lovey group of people celebrating a gorgeous girl's 30th. Photos will be uploaded very soon...

We missed you...

All our August places have now gone.

We have two dates in September... but er, they have already gone too!!!!

So you have to be quicker next time.

There may only be one date in October (one weekend is devoted to running/plodding in Chester Marathon, another attending a fabulous wedding).

The Griddle night is likely to be 26th October, so if you want to join in the fun, why not drop us a line now?

10 hours of cooking for you...

This summer I will be barbecuing the main meal for a very long time, in fact for 10 hours.

If you are not feeling brave then book the whole table for a fabulous night with your own friends - or take a risk (we promise it will pay off) and come in a pair, in threes, on your own and see who else turns up!

Whatever you do - I know you'll have a fantastic time, I mean how could you not with crisps, chocolate and barbecued pork on the menu.

So long...

but not farewell...

We've been gallivanting around Spain on an epic road trip, eating far too well and thus have had no time to write up menus or plan when we can host another Griddle night... but there will be dates in August...

And by the way, if you or a friend have something to celebrate, celebrate it here... we'll put on a good feast and may even throw in a few extra treats... I mean, why would you not? You can have up to 9 lovely people. as much alcohol as you like, food will only cost you £25 each, we'll devise you a perfect play list, make sure you are happy with the menu... lots of people have loved holding a birthday party here - and we've loved having them!

Evidence of road trip... this is in the Asturias. BRILLIANT.

Too much choice

I think we only have one date in July - Saturday 20th.

But it's a good one; how can it not be with so many ingredients to choose from? You'll love the pork from Ashlyns, the mackerel from Loughton Fisheries is so fresh and clean tasting I am desperate to make this again for myself (hard to get it - working in an office all day) and then - the pavlovas, I know you will scoff down despite a belly load of food.

Come, come, come! griddleproject@gmail.com

Hello sunshine...

Just a quick update to say 4th May is now full...

But there are still places for Saturday 18th May - come and dine on lamb and hay, feast on potted crab, get giddy on rhubarb bubbles griddleproject@gmail.com

We've just worked out our July dates; so excited about long summer evenings, think of all the food that will be available, far too much choice! If you know you are free in July, round up a bunch of your friends and book in or just come alone! You will be sure to have a good time:
Saturday 6th July
Saturday 20th July

Saturday 30 March 2013

Your place could have already gone...

We haven't even publicly invited anyone to dine at our lovely wooden table in May and already we are nearly fully booked.

We have 4 spots free on Saturday 4th May and spaces on Saturday 18th May.

And last night we had a booking for our possibly only free Saturday in June. I really love doing this and so we will try and sort out a mid weeker, or maybe a Friday. Dates will be up as soon as I have finished the menu (deciding exactly what exciting and tasty food to put on the menu is never easy - but always a joy to think about!)

If you are free on 4th May or 18th May, why not try us out? griddleproject@gmail.com

Begone arctic weather

This is my favourite menu so far.
Why?
1) It's all inspired by Spring
2) Spring is the inspiration
3) The Spring influence runs throughout

And to be honest, doesn't the food sound pretty good? We really are getting to grips with some amazing suppliers, Ashlyns, you truly are brilliant. KS Fisheries in Loughton, I could stand in your window for hours...

Do book now for our only April date - Saturday 13th griddleproject@gmail.com, we'd love you to try us out and enjoy all the beginnings of Spring, in our lovely dining room.

Remember, come on your own, in pairs, with a few mates, or book the whole table... we have space for 10 diners.

Enough of me.

Back to you.
